Despite the chance of cancellation due to the city-wide power outage, nearly 200 people filled the Sterling Church Auditorium on Thursday to watch 14 musicians battle for the title of Guitars Unplugged Champion.
Guitars Unplugged auditions kick off competition
Some of Cedar City’s acoustic guitarists came out last Wednesday to compete for the title of Power 91 Guitars Unplugged Champion and the winner of a $1,000 guitar package from Whittlesticks.

A band that had one of its first performances in the SUU Centrum Arena in April performed for the Cedar City crowd at Groovacious Tuesday.
Indie singer and songwriter Mindy Gledhill will make her first appearance in Cedar City as part of the Outdoor Adventure Fest Music Festival at the Grind Coffeehouse Sept. 18.
Going to SUU has its perks, like being able to walk the entire area of Cedar City in half-hour without getting the evil stares of threatening homeless people, but SUU lacks in the entire music scene.
