Music You Need to Know About

1/19/2011 Local Natives & Yellowcard

Today we spotlighted the Los Angeles indie group Local Natives. Their debut album Gorilla Manor came out first in the UK in 2009 and then was released here in the states last February.

Something unique about this group is that they have 2 lead vocalist, Taylor Rice and Kelcey Ayer, and they switch off songs pretty evenly. But their voices also work very well together.

They also have some sessions up on Daytrotter that you can download for free.

Local Natives - Airplanes

Here is a track that has Kelcey Ayer doing the lead vocals. This song is about Ayer wanting to meet his deceased pilot Grandpa. Ayer is also the keyboardist.

Local Natives - Sun Hands

Taylor Rice with lead vocals

And here are some other songs we listened to today:

Yellowcard - For You, and Your Denial

Yellowcard is getting ready to release their first album in 4 years this March. Yesterday they released the first single off the album. They've been one of my favorite bands for a long time so I have been waiting for this. I'll probably do a whole post on them after their album "When Your Through Thinking, Say Yes" is released.

ooh and that violin!! oh dang, I can't get over how perfect that is.

Miike Snow - Animal
